Requirements to enter Mexico with Financed vehicle
MEXICAN LIABILITY AUTO INSURANCE POLICIES CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM COVERAGE:
Third Party Civil Liability: If you are at fault in an auto accident liability insurance coverage pays for the bodily injury to other people and pays for damage to the property of others. It does not cover injury to a passenger in your vehicle (see description of Medical Payments below) nor damage to property of passengers in your vehicle.
Medical Payments: Pays for medical care for occupants of your vehicle who are injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Travel Assistance: Provides a basic package of assistance for travelers
THE FOLLOWING INSURANCE COVERAGES ARE IMPORTANT OPTIONS:
Total Theft: Covers theft of your insured vehicle
Collision: Covers damage to your vehicle that occurs in a motor vehicle accident
MexVisit Travel Assistance: A valuable, comprehensive package of emergency medical, roadside, and travel assistance coverage
Extended Coverage or coverage upgrade mentioned above to provide broader insurance coverage and higher limits of coverage than that contained in the Standard Mexico Tourist Auto policy.
Following are the requirements for obtaining a Letter of Permission to enter Mexico with a financed vehicle:
1. Customer must provide Mexico Insurance Verification which includes the following:
- Institution listed as lienholder/loss payee
- Customer and/or cobuyer listed as the insured
2. Policy must meet the following deductible criteria:
- Collision Deductible 2% of the vehicle value (subject to policy minimums) OR a fixed deductibleof no more than $500.
- Total Theft Deductible 5% of the vehicle value (subject to policy minimums) OR a fixeddeductible of no more than $1000.
- Minimum Liability Coverage $100,000 combined single limit (CSL).
3. Policy dates must cover the dates of travel:
-Customers MUST obtain adequate physical damage coverage to cover Collision and Theftcoverage for the Actual Cash Values (current market value) of the vehicle.
